As if it was today… one year ago Leganés managed to sum up a point against Real Madrid at Butarque (1-1). The pepineros started winning with a goal by Jonathan Silva but Benzema tied the match on the second half. The white and blues continued undefeated at home against the first four teams of the league (Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid and Valencia).
Leganés faced the Blancos with 40 points aand a practically secured spot on next LaLiga’s season. Real Madrid was third at the table. Mauricio Pellegrino’s initial squad was: Cuéllar, Nyom, Bustinza, Omeruo, Siovas, Jonathan Silva, Eraso, Rubén Pérez, Vesga, Braithwaite and Carrillo. En-Nesyri, El Zhar and Recio played on the second half.
Asensio and Braithwaite had the first occasions of the match but after that it would be Jonathan Silva the one that scored after a Braithwaite’s pass. Benzema tied up the match on the second half.
It was a tie at the end that allowed the team to sum up another point for their pursuit to keep the category.
