As if it was today… six years ago Leganés won at Sariñena and got closer to Second Division’s playoffs (0-4). The goals scored by Carlos Martínez, Carlos Álvarez (twice) and Álvaro allowed the pepineros to get the three points playing as visitors.
Leganés was second on the league just one point behind the leader Sestao River. Four teams were chasing the team with no more than 3 points of difference. The team needed to win against a team that was about to be relegated.
Asier Garitano’ team was: Queco Piña, De la Vega, Postigo, Mantovani, Luis Ruiz, Alberto Martín, Eraso, Velasco, Álvaro García, Carlos Martínez and Carlos Álvarez. Fran Moreno got in the match after half time while Fer Ruiz and Pírez did it on second half.
Leganés managed to score on three opportunities on first half through Carlos Martínez and Carlos Álvarez twice. On second half Álvaro García scored the last goal of the match. The team coul secure the playoffs on the following matchday at Butarque and could be the leader if Sestao River didn’t win against Atlético de Madrid 'B' on the following day.
