As if it was today… two years ago Leganés got a point against Deportivo at Butarque (0-0) and practically secured the spot on first division with 4 matches remaining. The pepineros were just one point away from keeping the category for the next season.
Asier Garitano’s team were 12 points away from that day’s rival. Leganés initial squad was: Cuéllar, Zaldua, Bustinza, Siovas, Diego Rico, Rubén Pérez, Gabriel, El Zhar, Eraso, Amrabat and Guerrero. Brasanac, Beauvue and Raúl García Carnero played on second half.
Deportivo had the best goal occasions through Lucas Pérez on the first half but Cuéllar managed to stop them all. El Zhar and Eraso had the best options for the locals but none of them reached their rivals’ goal. On second half El Zhar tried again to score for the pepineros and Juanfran for the visitors but none of them managed to. A penalty kick should have been called by the referee after ALbentosa’s hand on the area.
At the end it was a tie at Butarque that allowed the team to practically reach salvation needing just one more point in the 4 remaining matches to be played.
