As if it was today… nine years ago Leganés got an important point to continue their pursuit to reach Segunda División’s promotion play offs. The pepineros draw against Universidad de Las Palmas (0-0). Ferrán’s expulsion forced the team to have only 10 players at the pitch for 75 minutes.
It was the league’s 33rd matchday and José María Rico’s team was fifth looking to reach a play off spots. The white and blues’ initial squad was: Rubén Falcón, Pedro Hernández, Mario, Bayón, Jonay, Zazo, Tonino, Jonatan Valle, Chupe, Ferrán Tacón and Arruabarrena. Martín Ortega, Guille Guindal and Antelo were part of the match on second half.
The fight for the win was really closed between both teams. It wouldn’t get easier for the pepineros after Ferrán Tacón was sent off on 18’. Despite of playing with 10 the team managed to defend well and keep their goal at 0. Reaching one point against a direct rival allowed the pepineros to continue their fight to promotion.
