C.D. Leganés earned a point in their visit to Cultural Leonesa at the Reino de León Stadium (0-0). The "pepineros" had the best chances during the ninety minutes but lacked accuracy in front of goal and had to settle for a draw on the day Enric Franquesa returned to play.
Paco López made two changes to the starting lineup compared to the last match against Deportivo: Gonzalo Melero made his debut as a starter in midfield, replacing Seydouba Cissé, who was with the Guinea national team, while Diego García returned to the starting eleven, taking the place of Álex Millán, who began this time on the bench.
The best chances of the first half were for Lega
Leganés started strongly, with an early chance for Diego García in the 2nd minute after great pressing and a steal by Duk, but the local defense cleared it at the last moment. In the 8th minute, the "pepineros," debuting their third kit of the season, threatened again with another effort from Diego, and in the 9th minute, a double chance for Jorge Sáenz and Lalo was denied by Badía after a lateral free kick taken by Naim.
Leganés kept pushing in a match that evened out after their strong start, with Cultural leveling the game and a fall by Miguel in the local area in the 22nd minute that the referee did not deem punishable, as well as a grab on Lalo just before halftime. Leganés tried with the mobility of their two forwards and Duk's runs down the left, but the score remained unchanged at the end of the first forty-five minutes.
Miguel had the best chance of the match in a second half where the "pepineros" deserved to score
The second half began without changes, maintaining the same balance seen in the final minutes of the first half. The clearest chance came for Miguel in the 55th minute, but Badía denied his shot in a one-on-one situation when the goal seemed certain. Shortly after, Paco López made his first substitution, bringing on Juan Cruz for Naim. Juan Soriano had to step up in the 67th minute to save a deflected ball off Jorge Sáenz that nearly resulted in Cultural's first goal.
In the 71st minute, a double substitution for the "blanquiazules" saw Guirao and Pauwels come on for Melero and Diego García, with Duk moving up to play alongside Miguel. After the changes, Lega nearly took the lead again when a clearance by Thiago Ojeda hit the crossbar of his own goal following a cross from Pauwels on the left.
Enric Franquesa returned to play a LALIGA match almost ten months after his injury
In the 76th minute, Juan Cruz tried his luck after a good run by the "10," but Badía saved his left-footed shot from outside the box. In the 79th minute, Paco López made his final substitutions, bringing on Franquesa, almost ten months after his injury, to play league minutes in place of Marvel, and Álex Millán for Duk in attack. There were no more chances in the final stretch despite Leganés' efforts, who earned another point and now have four in the standings.
The next match for the "pepineros" will take place on Sunday (9:00 PM) at the Nuevo Los Cármenes against Granada C.F.
