C.D. Leganés secured a well-deserved victory at Ontime Butarque against Real Sociedad ‘B’ (2-0) in the 23rd round of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Álex Millán and Diego García, both in the second half, scored the goals for the Pepineros.
Igor Oca made a single change to the Pepineros' lineup from the last matchday, bringing Óscar Plano back into the starting eleven in place of Roberto López in the attacking midfield position. Leganés came out strong, with Juan Cruz's first shot in the 4th minute being saved with difficulty by Fraga. In the 13th minute, Marvel had a good header from a corner taken by Naim, but his shot went high. Real Sociedad ‘B’ responded with a dangerous attack in the 19th minute that Dadie almost finished off, but he just couldn't quite reach it.
The first half saw chances for the Pepineros, but no goals
Another good move in the 21st minute between Óscar Plano and Juan Cruz ended with Rubén Peña's shot being deflected for a corner by Fraga. The game was evenly matched after half an hour, with a lot of play in midfield and interruptions that broke up the rhythm of the match. In the 35th minute, Álex Millán came close to reaching a cross from Cruz from the right, but the San Sebastian defense prevented it at the last moment. And in the 36th minute, it was Naim who tried from the edge of the area, but Fraga saved.
Another chance came in the 38th minute, this time for Cissé from outside the area, but his shot went just wide during a good spell for Lega. And in the 40th minute, a great combination between Naim and Franquesa on the left almost led to a goal for Millán. Leganés deserved to score, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
Álex Millán put Leganés ahead after a great assist from Juan Cruz
Lega had another chance at the start of the second half, with a corner that was finished off first by Lalo and then by Óscar Plano, but the defense repelled their shots. The Pepineros tried their luck mainly down the left wing with Franquesa and Naim making incursions. In the 57th minute, referee Germán Cid awarded a penalty for a handball by a Real Sociedad defender inside the area: Álex Millán took the kick, but Fraga saved it to deny the Blue and Whites' striker.
In the 62nd minute, the Pepineros' persistence paid off: Lalo played a deep ball to Juan Cruz, who collected the ball behind the defense with extraordinary control, faced the goal, and assisted Álex Millán, who shot first time to beat Fraga and make it 1-0 with his fifth goal in this league. The 8,350 fans who gathered at Ontime Butarque on a freezing afternoon celebrated the goal by number 23 with joy.
Diego García, assisted by Duk, sealed the match, in which Dani Rodríguez made his debut in the final stretch
In the 71st minute, Igor Oca made his first two substitutions, bringing on Duk, who was returning after two games out due to injury, for Naim, and Diego for Álex Millán to freshen up the Pepinero attack. Shortly afterwards, Melero came on for Óscar Plano, just before the 2-0 came about as a result of the first two substitutions: Duk broke down the left and crossed to the near post, where Diego García appeared to beat Fraga with his fourth goal of the season.
In the final stages, there was time for Dani Rodríguez to make his debut for Leganés, coming on alongside Roberto López in place of the cheered Diawara and Juan Cruz. In added time, the third goal almost came after an individual move by Duk, which the Cape Verdean finished with a left-footed shot that crashed off the crossbar. A deserved victory for Leganés, who have won three of their last four games to move up to 29 points in the standings. The Pepineros will face their next match on Saturday (4:15 p.m.) against Burgos C.F. at El Plantío.
