C.D. Leganés failed to pick up any points in their visit to Córdoba C.F. (2-1), in a match corresponding to matchday 26 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Fuentes and Goti scored for the home side, while Óscar Plano pulled one back for the Pepineros in added time.
Igor Oca fielded the same starting eleven that began last week's victory against Granada, with the usual four-man defense in front of Juan Soriano, Diawara and Melero forming the double pivot, Juan Cruz and Dani Rodríguez on the wings and Óscar Plano behind Diego García, who played as the most advanced player.
Fuentes put Córdoba ahead in the first half
The electric clash began with a first chance for Fuentes with a bicycle kick in the 3rd minute that was saved by Juan Soriano, followed by a one-on-one for Juan Cruz that was saved by Iker Álvarez in the 4th minute and another for Melero, who was unable to beat the home goalkeeper with a chip shot. In the 5th minute, the home side took the lead through Fuentes, who took advantage of a ball behind the defense to beat Juan Soriano and make it 1-0, confirmed by VAR after being ruled out in the first instance.
Leganés tried to react, with a good shot from Diawara in the 19th minute from the edge of the area that was blocked by Iker Álvarez. In the 27th minute, it was Óscar Plano who shot high from a cross from the left as Lega looked for a way to get back into the game. And in the 36th minute, Melero headed high from a free kick taken by Dani Rodríguez. The number 16 tried again in the 41st minute, finishing with a rabona shot that missed the target. Córdoba went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Goti scored the second for the home side, and Óscar Plano narrowed the gap in added time.
With no changes after the restart, Leganés tried to take control of the game, with Óscar Plano as the most active player in the final third. The Mostoles native had a chance in the 55th minute after a run by Rubén Peña from the right, but his left-footed shot went over the bar. Córdoba responded in the 59th minute with a chance that Fuentes failed to convert.
In the 64th minute, Igor Oca made his first substitutions, bringing on Duk and Asué in place of Juan Cruz and Diego García in an attempt to freshen up the attack. However, in the 70th minute, Córdoba scored their second through Goti. Duk had a good chance, but his pass to Asué was just off target. In the final stages, Cissé and Roberto López came on for Lalo and Melero, and Álex Millán replaced Rubén Peña. In added time, Óscar Plano scored a great goal to reduce the deficit, with a powerful shot that flew into the top corner of Iker Álvarez's goal.
However, there was no time for more, and Leganés remain on 32 points in the standings at the end of matchday 26. The Pepineros' next match will be on Saturday 21 (2:00 p.m.) at Ontime Butarque against Cultural Leonesa.
